Surfing under the Northern Lights is definitely as gharly as it sounds

Surfer and noted shark-puncher, Mick Fanning has spent most of 2016 chasing waves in far-flung places.
One of those locations was under the Northern Lights in Norway, arguably one of the world’s most fascinating and stunning light shows.
Fanning teamed up with Norwegian photographers, Emil Sollie and Mats Grimsæth, who had come to him with the proposal, according to the Australian’s sponsor, Red Bull.
They had to wait days and nights for the lights to appear. They finally came out after midnight on the third day of the shoot in November.
“To shoot a picture of surfing under the Northern Lights, there are so many elements that have to come together at the same time,” Sollie told Red Bull. “Technically, this is one of the hardest pictures to capture.”
But the results, as you can tell, are well worth it. A two-part series documenting the shoot, called Chasing the Shot, will be released next year.
For now, let’s just enjoy the stunning beauty, shall we?
