‘Pow-boarding’ has all the vibe and culture of hanging ten.
It’s called “Hokkaido style,” and it is to snowboarding what shaka is to surfing.
Filmmakers and mountaineer snowboarders Forrest Shearer, Kael Martin, Griffin Siebert, Alex Yoder, and Nick Russell embarked on a pow tour of Japan.
There, they discovered a lifestyle beyond the sport. They learned that Hokkaido style means going up the mountain as well as down.
It means everything from food, to meditation, stretching, and a post-snowboard hot-spring soak. Together these components contribute to a true appreciation of a day on the slopes.
